Изречения слова Божия, располагающие к покаяниюТолкование на группу стихов: Ис: 35: 4-4
Give comfort, you who are faint of heart and mind! But according to Symmachus, the text reads: Be strengthened, you weak hands and frail knees! Be powerful and say to the senseless, Be strong, do not fear! And, very similarly, Aquila and Theodotion translate the word that our Savior calls out to the disciples and the apostles, that is, to strengthen the souls among the nations who have been passed by and to establish the knees of those who have become weak, and to say to those who were once faint of heart: Be strong, do not fear! For even if those who threaten you should pursue and attempt to produce fear in you, even applying torments and tortures, the text says that you who were once fainthearted will be transformed in strength and power and will not fear, since you have your God who accompanies you through everything. Therefore, according to Symmachus, the text reads: Do not fear! Behold, your God shall come and bring vengeance and retribution. The Lord himself shall come and save you. For this reason, after you have been taught these things, you who were once fainthearted will be strong and will not fear.

and exhorts them not to fear his tyranny. Behold, our God renders judgment and will render it. And since the threat of judgment was fearsome, he points out its fruit. He himself will come and save us. For the first appearance of our Savior brought salvation to men. For thus he himself said: “For God did not send his Son, that he might judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” Therefore, he used judgment against the demons warring against us, but deemed us worthy of pity and love for mankind.
