Толкование на группу стихов: Ис: 27: 7-7
After these things the text says: Will he be smitten even as he himself was struck? And will he be killed even as he himself has killed? The sense of the word is as follows: those who preached evil for the Gentiles were themselves not given peace in return, were they? For there were those who struck and persecuted them and who inflicted blows on them, but there were also those who most beautifully preached peace to them. And, therefore, those who did wrong from among the Gentiles did not suffer the same things as the heralds of peace, did they? For, indeed, they struck others but were not struck in return, and they killed but were not killed in return.

Shall he be smitten as he himself smote? Or shall he be slain as he himself slew? You, he says, being drawn up for battle and fighting, slew the neighbors of Jerusalem; but you, men grappling with you will not strike you down, but the battle and the victory will be invisible.
