Толкование на группу стихов: Ис: 26: 16-16
The prophet foresaw the universal judgment just as though he had been present in the judgment and as though “standing before the judgment seat of God.” He saw these things while praising God and while beseeching him and while giving thanks to him, while relating in detail the repayment that God will award to the worthy and while setting down the punishments against those who were unworthy. And he delivers to us all these things through his writings so that we might be disciplined and instructed in all that he himself knew by the divine and illuminating Spirit. And, therefore, he says that the time was now when, O Lord, traveling the “straight and narrow,” we strove earnestly for godliness. But even in that affliction we were not unmindful of you, and it was in fact by remembering you that we were able to stay strong and say: “We are afflicted but not crushed, persecuted but not forsaken; struck down 170 but not destroyed.” And, therefore, we were disciplined in the affliction, knowing that “the Lord disciplines those he loves.” And we consider every affliction small because of our longing for you, and so we say: “The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
