Чего же более? Блаженный человек сотворен из грешника, удрученного бедствиями; он уже не взирает на суету этого мира, ибо суета сует и всё суета (Еккл. 1:2) весь этот мир, как говорил мудрый Соломон. Разве не суетно следовать за тем, что не может неисто встводлиться, и все проходит, словно тень (Пс. 143.4). Бессмысленные неистовства или воинские сражения, в которых за временное обладание было пролито столько крови, или споры во время театральных состязаний, или накал цирковых зрелищ, полных ярости, или пагубное учение еретиков, или ложные слова и мнимые дела лжепророков, притворяющиеся небесными предсказаниями. Так сказал пророк: Блажен человек, которому имя Господа служит упованием, и он не смотрит на суету и ложное безумие (Пс. 39:5).
Следовательно, существует истинное безумие. Это, скорее всего, безумие пророков, которые пророчествовали в состоянии исступления, исполнившись Духом Святым . Некоторым людям они казались безумными, когда, забыв о собственном здоровье, нагие и босые, как святой Исаия, бегали среди людей, возглашая не то, что они сами хотели, но то, что им приказывал Бог. ] It would seem that the things discussed above are contrary to those which have just been said. For before the Word indicated that there would be peaceful relations between the Egyptians and Assyrians, but now he says that the king of the Assyrians will take captives from the Egyptians, young and old, naked and barefoot. And a solution to the difficulty might be found if we understand it in the manner of the prophetic Spirit. For as he turned toward Egypt, he was able to see what was momentarily about to happen to the Egyptians during the time of the prophet, but then he looked away toward the pleasant things that would result concerning the land of the Egyptians later in times far distant. Then, after prophesying about the pleasant things first through the above, he turns toward what would happen in the immediate future. And these were painful for the Egyptians and were not fulfilled in far distant times but during those which the prophet announced. And of necessity, after prophesying about what would happen in the immediate future, the divine Spirit concluded what would happen concerning the arrival of the Lord into Egypt and concerning the good things that would occur among the Egyptians. He did this in order that, from the fulfillment of the present prophecy, the people would believe that what was prophesied to happen later in times far distant would indeed happen for those who listened then, at that time, to the prophetic words.
Therefore, the things discussed beforehand are not contrary to those prophesied above. For on the one hand, he referred to the times that would come in the distant future, and on the other hand, he proclaims about what will happen in the near future. For during the time of the prophet Isaiah, when the king of the Assyrians was in power, after approaching the nation of the Palestinians, he took Azotus, which was then the greatest and most prominent of the cities in the area. And when the cities had been conquered, the prophet was commanded to go about in public without even one garment because of the heights to which philosophy had reached in them. And he was commanded to lay aside his garment, which had not been woven from wool but from goats’ hair, and thus to present himself as absolutely naked, since he did not have a second covering of animal skin. He was also commanded to remove his sandals, or, according to the other Greek translations, shoes. And after passing over these things, God says that when the Egyptians are attacked by the Assyrians, they will share the same appearance as the prophet. Not only will they be led away naked and barefoot, but the feared Ethiopians will also act as an ally and enter into an alliance with them. For 138 because the Ethiopians were numerous and very powerful by the standards of the time, the Egyptians felt confident and disdained the Assyrians.
