After these things happen, he will no longer permit you to gather crops so that you will be nourished in safety and peace. For I will greatly distress Ariel—clearly speaking of Jerusalem. But instead of and its strength and wealth shall be mine; Symmachus says: And affliction and pain shall be mine, as for Ariel; and Aquila says likewise: And Ariel shall be pained and distressed. For this very reason, a certain city of the Moabites was referred to as Ariel in the prophecy concerning Moab, concerning which it was said: “And I will remove the offspring of Moab and Ariel.” He says this aptly concerning Jerusalem, because such things will be mine in that Ariel of the Philistines.
