ВУЛЬГАТА

[лат. Vulgata], название лат. перевода Свящ. Писания Ветхого и Нового Завета, выполненного в кон. IV - нач. V в. блж. Иеронимом Стридонским. Перевод использовался в Зап. Европе в ср. века и в XVI в. был принят католич. Церковью на Тридентском Соборе в качестве единственного текста Свящ. Писания, обладающего нормативным авторитетом. Термин «В.» (от versio vulgata - общепринятый перевод) первоначально обозначал греч. текст Септуагинты и ее старолат. переводов. В раннее средневековье это название закрепилось за переводом блж. Иеронима, вытеснившим прежние варианты. Тридентский Собор признал В. офиц. текстом Библии (pro authentica habeatur), обладавшим статусом древнего, единственно достоверного и авторитетного текста Писания (textus auctoritate plenus), общепринятого в католич. Церкви (vetus et vulgata editio)
